James Roy Horner (Los Angeles, 14 agosto 1953 – Contea di Ventura, 22 giugno 2015) è morto due giorni fa, all’età di quasi 62 anni, in seguito ad un incidente aereo, mentre era al comando del suo monomotore che si è schiantato nella Foresta nazionale di Los Padres, California. È stato uno dei maggiori compositori statunitensi contemporanei di colonne sonore per il Cinema, vincitore nel 1998 di due premi Oscar per “Titanic” (Miglior Soundtrack e Miglior Canzone da un Film, “My Heart Will Go On” interpretata da Celine Dion), la colonna sonora più venduta di tutti i tempi tra quelle orchestrali. Aveva inoltre ottenuto la ‘Nomination’ all’Oscar per “Braveheart”, “Apollo 13”, “A Beautiful Mind” e “Avatar”.
