Sir George Ivan ‘Van’ Morrison (Belfast, 31 agosto 1945) è una delle massime figure della musica britannica (ed irlandese) dell’ultimo mezzo secolo. Dallo stile unico ed inimitabile, opo gli inizi nei Them (con i quali lanciò uno dei suoi classici, “Gloria“), Morrison ha avviato una carriera solistica nel 1967 che tuttora perdura e che lo ha visto pubblicare 40 album e almeno 7 raccolte significative in quasi cinquant’anni di carriera. La rivista Rolling Stone lo ha collocato al 42° posto nella classifica dei Cento Migliori Artisti di tutti i tempi e al 24° in quella dei Cento Migliori Cantanti. Inoltre due suoi album, “Astral Weeks” e “Moondance“, compaiono nella lista dei 500 Migliori Album di Sempre, sempre secondo Rolling Stone.
